Pacific Chamber Symphony
Presents

2008 – 2009 Concert Season

Beethoven and Friends!

Pacific Chamber Symphony  “Deliciously delicate, gloriously rich”
Lawrence Kohl, Music Director

Hailed “electrifying, inspiring, gloriously rich, deliciously delicate” Maestro Lawrence Kohl’s San Francisco based 30 member Pacific Chamber Symphony has it all: a beautiful sound, dynamic maestro and brilliant musicians performing great music in a friendly atmosphere.   Pacific Chamber Symphony’s intoxicating sound melds chamber music’s intimate clarity with instrumental variety and symphonic power. PCS is dedicated to performance of music for chamber orchestra and the vast repetoire which includes music from Bach to Mozart to Brahms to music written by living  Bay Area composers.

Saturday February 21, 2009 8:00 p.m.

The Creatures of Prometheus

Beethoven’s evocative work “The Creatures of Prometheus” drums up visions of the ancient mythological world. With this work, so different in many ways to his first two classical symphonies, we are witnessing the transformation of Beethoven as he finds his mature voice and entrance into the Romantic era of dramatic self-expression.

Saturday June 6, 2009, 8:00 p.m.

Fate Knocks at the Door

Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is the most well-known work in the orchestral literature. The full triumphal impact on the inner self can only be fully appreciated in live performance by a great orchestra. This will be the perfect conclusion to our 20th concert season and the a fist experience of this grand music at the El Campanil Theatre!
